Ingrid,
Your mom sent me an email today that this very day, May 23, was World Turtle Day. What better way to celebrate World Turtle Day than by telling the world about the greatest “big giant turtle” in the world. Now, some people may be fond of the Eastern Box turtle or the Blanding’s turtle or even the Green Sea Turtle, but in my opinion there is no greater turtle than Ingrid, Our Turtle.
When you were a baby, you would make the most incredible faces while learning how to use your facial muscles. The expressions were simply amazing. TIme and again you would purse your lips and your top lip would hang over and with your hooded eyelids in a sleepy state, you bore a striking resemblance to a turtle’s mouth. It was the most adorable thing I’d ever seen. Ever since we called you our little turtle.
Then, the world proved to us just how apropos the turtle moniker was by bringing the book “Ingrid Our Turtle” into our lives. It’s the story of a small turtle, living in the UK, who went on an amazing journey around the world and came back home to her loving family. That’s what I hope for you love, an amazing journey around the world, exploring on your own, but knowing that you have a loving family waiting for you with open arms. I want nothing more than for you to experience all that Ingrid the turtle experienced and more. Even just seeing your face when you see new things or how excited you get when you are introduced to the world is magical. Every day is a new page in the life of Ingrid, Our Turtle.
